Verification with file

Last Updated: May 12, 2017 10:40AM CEST

By adding a file to the root of your server, you can verify ownership of your domain without having to make any changes to your website.

1. Select Verify using a file

In the Filename box, you will find a key that is unique to your scope and account.

2. Create a file

Create a text file with the name specified in the filename box and write detectify in the file.

3. Save the file

Save this file to the root of your server.

4. Start your first test

You are now all set and ready to start your first test. Happy scanning!

Common mistakes when verifying with file

Wrong file location or access rights

We might be unable to access your verification file due to it being in the wrong location or protected with specific access rights. Try manually verifying that you are able to access the file.

Hidden characters

There might be characters other than detectify in the file. Make sure the file contains no additional hidden characters.
